Hebbel am Ufer (HAU)
Seit 2003 steht das Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) mit seinen drei Spielstätten – HAU 1, HAU 2 und HAU 3 – unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Matthias Lilienthal. Neben den internationalen Gastspielen und Produktionen der Berliner Tanzszene veranstaltet das HAU im Februar 2008 das thematisch orientierte Festival „Context # 5 – Plattform für zeitgenössischen Tanz“ und – zusammen mit derTanzWerkstatt – Tanz im August. Context ist insbesondere an der Rekontextualisierung des Bühnentanzes in Kultur,Gesellschaft und Geschichte interessiert. Durch die Kombination von Gastspielen, Workshops, Vorträgen und Publikumsgesprächen bietet es die Gelegenheit für eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit für den zeitgenössischen Tanz relevanten Themen. Tanz im August hat über 19 Jahre die international wichtigsten Vertreter des zeitgenössischen Tanzes in die Stadt geholt und dadurch auch für Impulse in der lokalen Tanzszene gesorgt. Das Festival steht für große repräsentative Gastspiele und kleine radikale Experimente, die die Grenzen des Mediums Tanz ausloten.
The Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) with its three stages – HAU 1, HAU 2 und HAU 3 – has been under the artistic direction of Matthias Lilienthal since 2003. Alongside international guest performances and productions by the Berlin dance scene, in 2008 the HAU is hosting the thematic festival “Context # 5 – Platform for Contemporary Dance“ in February and – in cooperation with the Tanzwerkstatt – Tanz im August. The Context festival is particularly focused on the re-contextualisation of dance for the stage in culture, society and history. The combination of guest performances, workshops, lectures and audience discussions encourages a closer examination of the issues relevant to contemporary dance today. Over the last 19 years, Tanz im August has brought leading international representatives of contemporary dance to the city, providing the local dance scene with new impetus. The festival presents both major guest performances by acclaimed artists and small radical experiments that probe the limits of the vehicle dance.
